Luke Bryan and Luke Combs Finally Team Up on the Barroom Anthem “Finders Keepers”
Two of country music’s most recognizable Lukes have finally shared a song, and they chose a fitting setting for their first collaboration: a bar, a cold beer and a breakup.
Luke Bryan and Luke Combs join forces on “Finders Keepers,” the opening track from Bryan’s ninth studio album, Signs, released September 18, 2026. Written by Jimi Bell, Beau Bailey and Sam Ellis, the song gives the longtime friends their long-awaited “Luke & Luke moment.”
It is also the first time Bryan and Combs have recorded a song together.
A breakup, a bar and a simple solution
“Finders Keepers” leans into one of country music’s most familiar themes: getting dumped, heading to the bar and trying to make peace with the situation over a few drinks.
The song opens with a man dealing with the aftermath of losing a woman to someone else. Bryan’s character knows exactly what he is going through and encourages him to stop dwelling on the breakup for the night.
The central hook turns an old saying into a barroom punchline:
“Finders, keepers, losers, drinkers, so double down on somethin’ strong”
From there, the song keeps the mood light. The message is essentially to accept that the relationship is over, grab a beer, listen to the band and enjoy the rest of the night.
Combs gets his own section later in the song, offering another perspective on the heartbreak and reminding the character that time will eventually help him heal.
How Luke Bryan got Luke Combs involved
Bryan explained the story behind the collaboration during an interview with Cody Alan on Highway Mornings.
He said he had already recorded his vocal for the song when he realized the album did not yet have a collaboration. Combs immediately came to mind.
Bryan sent the song to Combs with no expectations, simply asking for his reaction. According to Bryan, Combs responded with two words: “I’m in.”
That left Bryan with one immediate problem: figuring out how to get the collaboration finished in time.
The album was already moving toward its deadline, so Combs had to record his vocals quickly. Bryan joked that he had “kind of ruined his life a little bit” by creating a last-minute rush, but said the two were excited about the track and managed to get everything completed in time.
Bryan had wanted a “Luke & Luke” song for years
The collaboration was not a random pairing.
When Bryan announced the song earlier in September, he explained that he had wanted to record with Combs for some time. The two had become friends over the years, and Bryan had specifically hoped they would eventually have a song together.
He said his manager first played him “Finders Keepers” while he was working in the studio. Bryan immediately connected with the song and recorded his part on the fly.
He also credited the songwriters for continuing to push the song until it reached him.
When Combs heard the track, Bryan said, he called back and agreed to make the collaboration happen.
“Finders Keepers” opens Signs
The collaboration sits at No. 1 on Signs, a 12-track album released September 18.
