Blue Ridge: The Series Quietly Finds A New Audience On Prime Video
If you are looking for a crime drama with a rugged Western edge, Blue Ridge: The Series has quietly become one of the more notable titles on Prime Video.
The Appalachian-set series has built a steady streaming following, with two seasons now available and its presence in Prime Video’s Top 10 helping introduce the show to a wider audience. At the time of the original report, it had spent 24 consecutive days in the platform’s Top 10.
Created by Gary Wheeler, Blue Ridge: The Series continues the story established by the 2020 film Blue Ridge. The series stars Johnathon Schaech as former Green Beret Justin Wise, who becomes sheriff of a small community in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The combination of murder investigations, rural tensions and a lawman with a military past gives the show a clear neo-Western identity.

A Sheriff Facing More Than Local Crime
Justin Wise is trying to protect the people of Blue Ridge while dealing with increasingly complicated threats.
The second season expands that world with cases involving dangerous fugitives, family disputes, deadly secrets and other dangers affecting the mountain community. Prime Video’s synopsis also highlights the role of Justin’s deputies and family as he attempts to navigate those challenges.
Individual episodes continue to introduce different cases. One follows bounty hunter Hope Henry as she searches for the man accused of murdering her mentor, while another turns a father-daughter camping trip into a dangerous encounter with armed drug dealers.
Elsewhere, Justin investigates a murder connected to a local theater production, while another storyline brings his old adversary Silas Creedy back into town as a new drug threatens the community.
That combination of standalone mysteries and continuing character storylines gives the series room to work as both a procedural and an ongoing rural crime drama.
Two Seasons Are Now Available
The series premiered in 2024, following the original Blue Ridge movie released in 2020. Season 2 arrived in 2026, giving viewers a total of 14 episodes across the two seasons.
The second season consists of eight episodes, with episodes running around 45 minutes.
The cast is led by Schaech alongside Sarah Lancaster, Taegen Burns and A Martinez, with the story continuing to revolve around Justin, his family and the wider Blue Ridge community.
Its Streaming Momentum Is Hard To Ignore
The show’s growing visibility on Prime Video has been one of the more interesting parts of its recent run.
INSP said the series reached the Top 5 and overall Top 10 on Amazon Prime Video following its original run, while more recent reporting noted that it remained in Prime Video’s Top 10 for 24 consecutive days.
Prime Video’s current listing also shows Blue Ridge: The Series with both seasons available, while the platform’s U.S. listing has recently placed it among the most-watched television titles.
That makes the series an increasingly visible option for viewers who enjoy crime stories set against small-town and rural landscapes.
What About Season 3?
Despite the show’s recent streaming momentum, its future requires some caution.
There is currently no clear official announcement from INSP confirming a third season. One current tracking source lists the series as renewed, but the available official material confirms only the two existing seasons, so a Season 3 release should not be treated as confirmed at this stage.
For now, viewers have 14 episodes to work through, with the second season adding new threats and cases to Justin Wise’s increasingly complicated life.
With its former Green Beret sheriff, Appalachian setting, murder mysteries and growing presence on Prime Video, Blue Ridge: The Series has quietly carved out its own place in the modern Western crime-drama space.
