Production on Season 2 of Netflix’s breakout period drama Little House on the Prairie has officially wrapped, with the streamer announcing 10 new actors joining the frontier ensemble as the storyline moves into Walnut Grove.

The sophomore run adapts the fourth book in Wilder’s series, On the Banks of Plum Creek.
According to lead actor Luke Bracey—who stars as patriarch Charles Ingalls alongside Crosby Fitzgerald (Caroline Ingalls), Alice Halsey (Laura Ingalls), and Skywalker Hughes (Mary Ingalls)—the new season jumps forward 18 months in time:
“I’m excited to see him learn from his mistakes and grow as a man and grow as a husband and grow as a father,” Bracey shared about Charles’s journey.
Showrunner and executive producer Rebecca Sonnenshine noted that the team conducted field research in Minnesota to capture the authentic spirit of the setting:
“All of our incredible cast additions this year have made this season in Walnut Grove absolutely magical,” Sonnenshine said. “I actually visited the real Walnut Grove last year… And so we took a lot of inspiration from that, from the real town. We are so excited to show people our Walnut Grove, which is inspired by the real place and inspired by the books.”
