Ella Langley Was Supposed To Be Celebrating Her Record-Breaking No. 1… But She Couldn’t Resist The Microphone When A 1978 Country Classic Started Playing 🎶

Ella Langley Takes the Mic for a Surprise “Rose Colored Glasses” Performance at “Choosin’ Texas” Celebration

Ella Langley had plenty to celebrate in Nashville this week. Her smash hit “Choosin’ Texas” had just extended its reign at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 to a record-setting 24 weeks, giving her the longest-running chart-topper in the history of the chart.

So, naturally, Langley gathered some of the people closest to her career for a night of music, dancing and country classics. And before the evening was over, she ended up back where she clearly feels most comfortable: onstage with a microphone in her hand.

A “Choosin’ Texas” Party With Plenty of Country Spirit

Langley hosted the celebration at Skinny Dennis in Nashville, bringing together close friends, industry colleagues and others who played a role in the extraordinary run of “Choosin’ Texas.”

The setting was fitting for the occasion. Skinny Dennis has a dive-bar atmosphere that echoes the world created around “Choosin’ Texas,” whose official video was filmed at Fort Worth’s historic Stagecoach Ballroom. The video leaned heavily into classic Texas imagery, including two-stepping, live music and the Western character associated with the song.

Rather than filling the room with a typical party playlist, Langley brought in a local band to keep the celebration rooted in country music. Nathan Belt, the band’s lead singer and an aspiring Texas-born artist, later shared a glimpse of the evening on social media, including a photo with Langley.

Among the guests was Miranda Lambert, Langley’s co-writer on “Choosin’ Texas” and her collaborator on the recently released “Snakeskin Boots.” Lambert attended with her husband and reportedly spent much of the night dancing as the band played country favorites, including George Strait’s “The Chair.”

The timing of the Lambert collaboration is especially fitting. “Snakeskin Boots,” which features Langley as Lambert’s duet partner, was released October 2 as the opening track on Lambert’s album Crisco. Lambert has said the song was written with Langley’s voice in mind.

Ella Langley Couldn’t Stay Off the Stage

At some point, simply being the guest of honor apparently wasn’t enough.

Langley joined the band for an impromptu performance of John Conlee’s “Rose Colored Glasses,” a 1978 country classic that has long been one of her favorite songs.

With a drink in hand, she stepped up to the microphone and sang alongside Belt, adding harmonies to the relaxed performance. It was more of a spontaneous karaoke-style moment than a formal concert appearance, but the footage offers a fun glimpse of Langley enjoying the celebration from the other side of the stage.

For fans hoping to hear her perform the entire song, however, there is another version worth revisiting.

Langley previously sang “Rose Colored Glasses” during her December 2024 appearance on the God’s Country podcast with brothers Reid and Dan Isbell. The episode, released December 17, 2024, featured Langley talking about her career, her family and the success of “You Look Like You Love Me,” before ending with the “Rose Colored Glasses” performance.

“Choosin’ Texas” Keeps Making History

The party came at the end of an extraordinary stretch for Langley and “Choosin’ Texas.”

Released in October 2025, the song steadily grew from a country hit into a crossover phenomenon. By the Billboard chart dated September 28, it had reached 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, extending the record after taking sole possession of the mark the previous week. Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” had previously held the record with 22 weeks at No. 1.

The song’s success had already crossed well beyond country radio. Earlier in 2026, “Choosin’ Texas” became the first song by a woman to simultaneously top Billboard’s Country Airplay, Hot Country Songs and Hot 100 charts. The track also became a major streaming and social-media success, helping propel Langley into a much broader audience.

The song’s unusual staying power has been one of the most remarkable parts of its rise. Instead of arriving at No. 1 immediately and disappearing just as quickly, “Choosin’ Texas” continued gaining momentum months after its release.

That makes the Nashville celebration feel particularly appropriate. What began as a country song about heartbreak, Texas and a two-stepping boyfriend has become the biggest chart success of Langley’s career.

Back on the Road for the Final 2026 Shows

Langley’s record-breaking run also comes as she approaches the final stretch of her 2026 Dandelion Tour.

Her next scheduled show is October 7 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, followed by stops across Oklahoma, Texas, California, Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.

For one night in Nashville, though, Langley traded the tour schedule for a small room, a country band and a song she has loved for years.

And judging by the clips from the party, the woman behind the biggest song in the country was perfectly happy to forget about the milestone for a moment and simply sing.
