“MY BABY JUST SET THE OLYMPIC WORLD RECORD” Jake Paul Breaks Down In Tears As Jutta Leerdam Wins Gold In Milan, Shatters The Olympic Speedskating Record, And Completes A Comeback Four Years In The Making

Jutta Leerdam won gold and set an Olympic record at the 2026 Winter Olympics, prompting an emotional reaction in the stands from her fiancé Jake Paul.

Speedskater Leerdam, 27, came in first place in women’s 1000m on Monday, Feb. 9 at the Milano Speed Skating Stadium, breaking the record with her time of 1:12.31.

The Dutch athlete had her fiancé, social media star and boxer Paul, 29, in the stands cheering her on as she won Olympic gold, and in a reel posted to Instagram, he broke down in tears after her win as he celebrated with her family.

“MY BABY JUST SET THE OLYMPIC WORLD RECORD,” he wrote on the video, adding the caption, “IM SO PROUD OF YOU @juttaleerdam.”

In a second Reel, Leerdam celebrated her win by letting Paul swoop her up in to his arms as she bit down on her gold medal and the two shared a kiss.

“we just witnessed one of the most important sporting moments ever. the doc will tell. words cant describe how proud of you i am,” he captioned the post.

Leerdam — who took a moment to blow Paul a kiss from the ice, per the Associated Press — won silver in the 1000m at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, coming in behind Japan’s Miho Takagi, who set an Olympic record in the event. Leerdam said she was “pretty happy” after that medal, noting that it was her “first Olympics.”

This time around, she beat her teammate Femke Kok, who clocked in at 1:12.59 for a second-place finish. Japan’s Takago earned bronze, while American Brittany Bowe came in fourth. American Erin Jackson, who won gold in the 500m in 2022, came in sixth.

Leerdam, who won her first major title at the 2017 World Junior Championships in Finland, has been pursuing her dreams of speedskating after realizing she had “never been a team player” while playing hockey, she said in an interview with Infrostada Sports, adding, “The individual aspect of skating appeals to me.”

“We can’t wait to spend forever together,” Paul wrote on Instagram alongside photos from the proposal.
