The Night Agent Season 4 Wraps Production Ahead of 2027 Series Finale
Peter Sutherland is answering one final call.
Production has officially wrapped on the fourth and final season of Netflix’s The Night Agent, setting the stage for Gabriel Basso’s return as the action-thriller’s central hero in 2027. Netflix has described the upcoming season as Peter’s final mission, bringing his story to its definitive conclusion.
A behind-the-scenes preview released alongside the production update gives fans an early glimpse of what is ahead — including Basso promising an “explosive” series finale as a plane erupts into flames behind him.

A final mission for Peter Sutherland
Season 4 picks up after Peter’s globe-spanning assignment in Season 3, which saw him pursue stolen financial intelligence while uncovering increasingly complicated conspiracies.
Series creator, executive producer and showrunner Shawn Ryan says the production has been a particularly ambitious journey, with the series having filmed across five countries on three continents.
“It’s been a wild ride filming The Night Agent in five countries across three continents … and we’re so thrilled that the adventures of Peter Sutherland will continue into Season 4,” Ryan said.
He added that the writers, cast and crew were ready to deliver more twists, turns and thrills for the show’s fans.
Netflix previously confirmed that Season 4 would serve as the final chapter of Peter’s story, with Ryan saying he had long wanted to give the character a proper conclusion.

New faces join the final season
The final season will introduce several new characters alongside Basso.
Abigail Breslin, known for Little Miss Sunshine and Zombieland, joins the cast as Cahlin. Annabeth Gish, whose credits include Mystic Pizza and Midnight Mass, plays Holland, while David Denman, known for Mare of Easttown and Rebel Ridge, appears as Ford.
The previously announced additions include Titus Welliver as Duval, Li Jun Li as Min, Trevante Rhodes as Dom and Elizabeth Lail as Zoe.
They join Basso as Peter Sutherland as he heads into the final assignment of his Night Action career.
Where Season 3 left Peter
The Season 3 finale left Peter at a rare turning point.
After months of relentless work, he finally told FBI Deputy Director Aiden Mosley, played by Albert Jones, that he wanted to step away and take a break.
Mosley appeared supportive of the decision, but he also hinted that Peter would have another opportunity waiting whenever he was ready to return.
“I’ve been thinking about the request you made earlier for a partner. I think I have a candidate in mind,” Mosley told him.
That seemingly simple comment became one of the clearest clues about what could come next.
Ryan previously described the moment as a “launching pad for Season 4,” leaving Peter’s future — and the identity of his potential partner — among the questions the final season will have to answer.
Peter’s decision to step away also echoed advice he had received earlier in Season 3: that the best agents need to find balance in their lives.
But as Basso previously explained, Peter has become increasingly aware of the difference between loyalty to an institution and loyalty to a principle. That makes his decision to leave Night Action feel less like a simple retirement and more like another stage in his complicated relationship with the work.
Season 3 proved the show’s staying power

The Night Agent continues to be one of Netflix’s major action-thriller successes.
Following its Season 3 premiere, the series reached No. 2 on Netflix’s English-language TV list, recording 9.9 million views in its second week. Its first two seasons also returned to the Global Top 10 at the same time.
Netflix previously reported that the series had spent 27 weeks on the Global Top 10 and reached No. 1 in 87 countries.
The third season placed Peter in the middle of a global investigation involving stolen financial intelligence, assassins and a wider conspiracy reaching into the highest levels of government. By its conclusion, several of those threads had been resolved, while the setup for Peter’s final chapter was already in place.
Filming began in Los Angeles

Season 4 began production in Los Angeles, joining a growing list of Netflix productions filmed in the city.
Other recent Netflix productions in Los Angeles include Nobody Wants This Season 2, Running Point Season 2 and The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4.
The city’s Netflix slate also includes the upcoming film Animals from director Ben Affleck, BEEF Season 2 from creator Lee Sung Jin, and Monster Season 4 from creators Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan.
With production now complete, The Night Agent moves into the next stage ahead of its 2027 return.
One last call
For three seasons, Peter Sutherland has been pulled from one dangerous assignment into another, with each mission pushing him deeper into the world of Night Action.
Now, there is only one left.
Season 4 will bring back Gabriel Basso for the final chapter of Peter’s story, surrounded by a new group of allies and enemies and carrying forward the unanswered questions left by Season 3.
Netflix has confirmed the final season will arrive in 2027.
After the phone rings one last time, Peter Sutherland’s journey as The Night Agent will finally come to an end.
