The Watcher Will Return for Season 2 With Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale
The letters are coming back.
Netflix has confirmed that The Watcher will return for a second season, with Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale reprising their roles as Nora and Dean Brannock. Margo Martindale and Isabel Gravitt will also return as Maureen “Mo” and Ellie Brannock.
The new season will pick up after the first installment’s deliberately ambiguous finale, bringing the Brannock family back into a mystery that remains without a definitive real-world solution.

The Brannocks Are Back
Created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, The Watcher follows Nora and Dean Brannock after they move into what they believe will be their dream home.
Their new life quickly turns into something far more disturbing when threatening letters begin arriving in the mailbox. The messages suggest that someone is watching the family, leaving the Brannocks increasingly convinced that danger could be coming from anywhere — including their own neighborhood.
Season 1 ended without fully resolving the mystery surrounding the identity of the Watcher. That uncertainty will carry into Season 2, which will continue the Brannocks’ story in the aftermath of the first season’s unsettling conclusion.
Watts and Cannavale are both returning, alongside Martindale and Gravitt. Since the real-life case that inspired the series remains unsolved, the next chapter has plenty of room to take the story in a new direction.

Season 2 Is Now in Production
Netflix confirmed on Oct. 2, 2026, that production on the second season is underway.
Executive producers include Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, Crystle Roberson Dorsey, who also serves as a director, Nissa Diederich, Karl Frankenfield, Scott Robertson, Todd Kubrak, Tanase Popa, Eric Newman, Naomi Watts, Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman and Bryan Unkeless.
The first season made a significant impact for Netflix. The Watcher spent five weeks on the Global Top 10 English TV list and reached the Top 10 in more than 90 countries.
Those numbers helped establish the series as another major collaboration between Murphy and Brennan, whose work together also includes Netflix’s Monster anthology.
From The Watcher to Monster

Murphy and Brennan’s true-crime anthology Monster has become one of Netflix’s biggest franchises, with more than 320 million views across its seasons.
The first installment, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, remains Netflix’s seventh most popular series of all time. All four installments of Monster have also reached No. 1 on the Global Top 10.
The latest installment, Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, premiered on Sept. 17 and has held the No. 1 position on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV list. As of Oct. 2, it had accumulated 26.6 million views and reached the Top 10 in 92 countries.
For The Watcher, however, the focus is shifting back to the Brannocks and the unanswered questions left behind by Season 1.
With production now underway and the original cast returning, Netflix has yet to reveal further details about the plot or when Season 2 will premiere.
One thing is certain: the mysterious letters have not been forgotten.
