Return to Paradise Season 3 Brings a Complicated Love Triangle, New Faces and a Major Family Surprise

Detective Mackenzie Clarke is facing another emotional upheaval when the Australian crime drama Return to Paradise returns for its third season. After the explosive wedding cliffhanger that left Glenn Strong questioning his future, the new episodes promise unresolved feelings, fresh romantic complications and a new arrival who could turn Mackenzie’s world upside down.
The six-part series returns to BBC One on Friday, November 6, at 7:30pm, with Anna Samson and Tai Hara reprising their roles as Mackenzie and Glenn. Picking up after season two’s dramatic finale, the story explores what happens when two people who still care deeply about each other struggle to work out where they stand.
Mackenzie’s guilt and Glenn’s return

At the end of season two, Glenn left Dolphin Cove after his fiancée, Daisy, called off their wedding because of his unresolved feelings for Mackenzie. Now, Mackenzie must live with the consequences of what happened, even as she struggles to admit that she may have played a part in the heartbreak.
Samson explained that her character feels deeply guilty about the wedding and fears she may have ruined the happy future Glenn and Daisy could have shared. With Glenn gone, Mackenzie is left waiting for a chance to put things right, despite having little control over what happens next.
Glenn, meanwhile, has spent time away reflecting on his life and feelings. According to Hara, he returns to Dolphin Cove believing he may finally know what he wants to say to Mackenzie. But his plans become more complicated when he discovers that a new pathologist has entered her life.
A new pathologist complicates the romance

Jacob Collins-Levy joins the cast as Leo, a charming new pathologist who quickly catches Mackenzie’s attention. Although their first encounters are marked by clashes, Leo soon reveals qualities that she admires and respects.
His arrival creates a new dynamic between Mackenzie and Glenn. Samson suggested that seeing Mackenzie happy in another man’s company will affect Glenn, even though her feelings for him have not necessarily disappeared.
Hara also described Leo’s presence as adding fresh energy to the relationship. Rather than returning to Dolphin Cove and immediately becoming jealous, Glenn must confront more complicated questions about the bond he shares with Mackenzie and whether their history is making it harder for either of them to move forward.
The result is an emotionally tangled situation in which affection, uncertainty and jealousy may overlap. Whether it becomes a conventional love triangle remains open to interpretation, but Leo’s arrival is set to change the way Mackenzie and Glenn relate to one another.
Kerry Armstrong joins as Mackenzie’s mother

Season three also welcomes veteran Australian actress Kerry Armstrong as Jillian, Mackenzie’s larger-than-life mother.
Known for roles in Dynasty, Neighbours and SeaChange, Armstrong brings a new personality to the series. Samson praised her co-star’s energy and enthusiasm, saying she brought a fresh sense of life to both the show and the set.
For Mackenzie, however, her mother’s sudden arrival is far less welcome. Jillian’s personality stands in sharp contrast to her daughter’s, creating another source of tension in Mackenzie’s already complicated life.
Samson explained that Armstrong understood Mackenzie’s character and knew how to play against her, bringing out reactions that could make their relationship especially compelling.
