Jakarta. A Ukrainian diplomat said Monday that Kyiv could not confirm nor deny the reports of a crime boss’s son being kidnapped in Bali.
Social media posts have claimed Igor Komarov — the son of the Dnipro-based crime kingpin nicknamed Narik — is currently being held hostage. The man was vacationing on the Indonesian tropical island during the abduction. A three-minute video showed a black-eyed Komarov saying that his captors had demanded a $10 million ransom, which was allegedly the money that the Ukrainian gangsters had stolen from them.
To the Jakarta Globe, Ukrainian Chargé d’Affaires Yevhenia Shynkarenko admitted that Kyiv was aware of the viral posts.
“But as of today, we have not received any addresses to the embassy for any kind of support. We didn’t have any official statements by the local government and authorities, be it the police or immigration office,” Shynkarenko told the Globe.
“We can neither confirm nor deny [the kidnapping].”
According to the English-subbed video uploaded by user @MyLordBebo on the social media platform X, Komarov is already missing his fingers. He showed his bandaged arm to the camera at some point, while warning that the kidnappers might deliver the severed limbs to his folks in the coming days.
Komarov was the son of Oleksandr “Narik” Petrovsky, a powerful businessman from Dnipro, Ukraine, who has been connected to high-level political figures and the criminal underworld in the city. His family’s connections have added complexity to the case, as authorities investigate a failed ransom attempt and the brutal, merciless act that unfolded.
Komarov, who was traveling in Bali with his girlfriend, Yea Mishalova, a social media influencer with nearly 200,000 Instagram followers, was kidnapped on February 15, 2026, while riding a scooter near Jimbaran, a popular beachside district in Bali frequented by Russian and Ukrainian nationals. The kidnapping was carried out in a military-style operation with a convoy of vehicles, adding a terrifying level of planning and sophistication to the crime.
The Kidnapping and Plea for Help
According to reports, Mishalova shared a photo of herself and Komarov on Valentine’s Day, which may have inadvertently revealed their location to his abductors. The photo, with a caption reading, “F—k 14 February, love you everyday,” raised speculation that it was used by the criminals to track and target Komarov.
After the kidnapping, investigators believe Komarov was taken to a luxury villa in Tabanan, on Bali’s mid-west coast, where he was reportedly beaten and tortured. In a disturbing turn, grainy video footage surfaced, first published on the Telegram channel MASH, which appeared to show Komarov pleading for his father to pay a $10 million ransom. In the video, Komarov could be seen with visible injuries, including two black eyes, begging his father to pay the money demanded by his abductors.
The ransom was not random. According to police, the suspected kidnappers, believed to be part of a Ukrainian crime syndicate, staged the abduction to reclaim $10 million that Petrovsky had allegedly stolen from them in a fraudulent scheme. In the video, Komarov, apparently under duress, said, “Mummy, Daddy, I beg you, help me please, you stole those ten million, which they ask for, return these ten million please,” he said in Ukrainian.
Komarov continued, “I have no limbs… I’m just dying… an infection will start soon. Please, help me. This is a very serious organization. I will give you everything back, please settle with these people, they need ten million dollars.”
The Discovery of Severed Body Parts
The story took a gruesome turn on February 27, 2026, when police discovered severed human body parts, including a head, right leg, upper chest sections, and internal organs, near the mouth of the Wos River on Bali’s lower east coast. The discovery was approximately 19 miles from the luxury villa in Tabanan.
Forensic analysis later suggested that the body parts belonged to a man who had died three days before the discovery. While initial DNA testing was inconclusive, the body parts matched the profile of someone with Caucasian features, which led investigators to believe they belonged to Komarov. Further forensic testing is being conducted to confirm the identity, but investigators are leaning heavily toward the theory that the remains belong to the kidnapped man.
Arrests and International Manhunt
The investigation rapidly progressed with authorities identifying several suspects, including a foreign national who had rented one of the vehicles used in the abduction. Police arrested the man, identified by the initials CH, and later named six others as suspects in the murder and abduction. The suspects are believed to be part of a criminal network connected to both the Ukrainian underworld and the international ransom trade.
According to police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Ariasandy, four of the suspects fled Bali through Denpasar International Airport, while the remaining two are believed to still be hiding on the island or in other provinces of Indonesia. All six have been placed on Interpol’s Red Notice list, a global alert aimed at tracking down fugitives.
