Ken Jennings Scolds ‘Jeopardy!’ Fans for Laughing at His NSFW Comment

This is a family show! Ken Jennings made a NSFW joke that he claims he didn’t mean to make and scolded Jeopardy! fans for laughing at that said joke.

During a Q&A with Jeopardy! fans at the Sony Pictures Studio, Jennings talked about competing in the Watson Tournament. In February 2011, a computer beat out the greatest Jeopardy! player of all-time.

Watson is a question-answering computer system developed by an IBM research team. It was named after IBM CEO Thomas J. Watson Sr, according to IBM.com.

Watson was the first of a new generation of computers that was able to understand questions posed in natural language and answer them more accurately than any search technology. And it could do this without being connected to the internet.

The computer faced off against Jennings and Brad Rutter, the two-highest winning players in the game show‘s history, in three competitions. Watson beat both of the all-time greats in the competition. Watson won $77,147 for charity. Jennings took home $24,000 while Rutter ended with $21,600.

“Is this the same studio where you played Watson and also where you won the GOAT Tournament?” a fan asked Jennings as he stood on the Alex Trebek stage.

“This is where I played all of my games, except for one exception, The Watson Tournament,” the host replied. “That was the last time… Well, that wasn’t the last time Jeopardy! went on the road.”

 

“Watson would not come to California. He’s a bit of a diva,” Jennings went on. “Watson was not the rectangle you see on TV. That was just like a flat-screen TV turned on its side, and that was connected to a room full of 2,800 of IBM’s fastest servers, running in parallel.”

“Watson was the size of an RV. Watson is the only other Jeopardy! contestant I’ve ever been inside.”

The room erupted in laughter. Jennings’ face went from smiling to frowning.

“Hey!” he scolded. “Listen, that’s not okay. This is a family show.” That statement made the audience laugh even more, especially because he was the one who came up with “What is a ho?” on the game show.

“Ken lowkey should do comedy,” one fan said.
