Netflix’s House of Guinness Is Already Coming Back for Season 2
Just eight episodes were enough to pull millions of viewers into the ruthless world of the Guinness dynasty — and Netflix has now confirmed that the story is far from over.
Created by Peaky Blinders mastermind Steven Knight, House of Guinness debuted on Netflix on September 25, 2025. The eight-part historical drama follows the Guinness family in 19th-century Dublin as four siblings struggle to protect their inheritance, navigate rivalries and determine the future of the family’s brewing empire.
The series recorded 35.7 million hours viewed in its first week, placing it third on Netflix’s global English-language TV chart at the time. It eventually continued to draw substantial audiences in the weeks that followed.

From Peaky Blinders to the Guinness dynasty
Knight became one of television’s most recognisable creators through Peaky Blinders, which ran from 2013 to 2022 and centred on Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby and his family’s rise through Birmingham’s criminal underworld.
House of Guinness trades the smoky streets of post-World War I Birmingham for Dublin in 1868, shifting from a fictional crime family to one of Ireland’s most famous real-life dynasties.
The story begins with the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness. His four children — Arthur, Edward, Anne and Benjamin — are left to deal with the consequences of his death while facing very different ambitions, loyalties and pressures.
Netflix describes the series as a story in which the four siblings, each carrying secrets of their own, hold the fate of the brewery in their hands.

A family divided by ambition
Anthony Boyle stars as Arthur Guinness, with Louis Partridge as Edward, Emily Fairn as Anne Plunket and Fionn O’Shea as Benjamin.
Arthur is forced to confront the responsibilities that come with his position, while Edward seeks greater control over his own future. Anne fights to establish her place within a family dominated by competing interests, and Benjamin finds himself caught between the conflicts surrounding his siblings.
The wider circle around the family only makes matters more complicated. Jack Gleeson plays cousin Byron Hedges, while Dervla Kirwan appears as Aunt Agnes. James Norton also stars as Sean Rafferty, the brewery’s powerful foreman and a key figure in the family’s increasingly complicated affairs.
As the story unfolds, political tensions, betrayals and arrests threaten to destabilise the Guinness family just as they attempt to protect their position and expand their influence.

Critics embraced it, while viewers were more divided
The series has received a notably stronger response from critics than from audiences. House of Guinness currently holds a 90% Tomatometer score from 51 critics on Rotten Tomatoes, compared with a 68% audience score.
The praise has focused on the drama’s performances, production design, costumes and historical atmosphere, while some viewers have found the pacing and ensemble particularly easy to binge.
Not everyone has been convinced, however. Some audience reactions have criticised the use of modern music within the period setting, while others have taken issue with parts of the dialogue and its more dramatic moments.
Even with those reservations, the series generated enough interest to leave viewers wanting to know what would happen next — particularly after its cliffhanger finale.

Season 2 is officially happening
That question has now been answered.
Netflix announced on August 24, 2026, that House of Guinness had been renewed for a second season. Steven Knight is returning to continue the story of Arthur, Edward, Anne and Benjamin, alongside the spouses, lovers, enemies and allies who surround them.
Sean Rafferty, played by James Norton, is also set to remain part of the story as the Guinness family enters its next chapter.
Knight has said the new season will explore how the characters grow and change as they continue expanding the Guinness empire, while the complicated relationships at the heart of the family remain central to the drama.
Production is expected to begin in early 2027, with filming planned in Dublin and Manchester.
The first season ends with the Guinness family facing an especially dangerous moment. Arthur continues his political campaign despite the threat surrounding him, while a returning figure arrives in Dublin with deadly intentions. The finale ends on the sound of a gunshot, leaving the fate of the characters hanging in the balance.
For viewers who raced through the first eight episodes and were left wanting more, that cliffhanger now has a confirmed continuation.
House of Guinness Season 1 is streaming on Netflix.
