The clan’s clash escalated in the seventh episode after ranch matriarch Beulah Jackson (Annette Bening) shocked everyone by passing the leadership to her degenerate son Rob-Will (Jai Courtney) instead of steady, responsible Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba). Beulah had planned to give the reins to “Kino,” as she calls her favorite child, but Rob-Will vowed to kill his brother if she did that.
“Beulah will regret this deeply, unfortunately,” Raba says. “That decision will change the Jackson life forever.”

The actor also promises a battle between the brothers. “It’s been a long time coming,” he says. “[It gets] bad, really, really bad.” Just how bad? “There will be plenty of action — this is Dutton Ranch — and people will die,” Raba teases. If that’s not enough action for you, Raba also reveals that a new character will swagger through the gates of the 10-Petal and “comes to rock everyone’s world.” The new face is Mariano Reyes (Raoul Trujillo), whose younger self we’ve seen in flashbacks. We see him in the teaser.
No matter which brother comes out on top, Raba emphasizes that Beth and Rip are survivors. “[They] are always playing chess, so they know that no matter who runs the 10-Petal, they will still have to be on their top game.” After the chaos, Raba says, “Fans will just want to see Beth and Rip take care of it…but will they be able to?”
Let’s hope both families can rely on the next generation, Carter (Finn Little) and Oreana (Natalie Alyn Lind), whose romance this season caused its own kind of chaos but also challenged both teens to do some growing up.
As for progress into solving the murders of ranch hand Wes Ayers (Nakoa DeCoite) and unconventional rancher Dwight White (the always excellent Ray McKinnon, gone too soon!), Raba says, cheekily, “What murders?” It’s clear that when Dutton Ranch returns for Season 2 with a just-announced new showrunner and executive producer, Benjamin Cavell (SEAL Team, Justified, The Stand), there will be plenty of ammo to keep this hit series firing.
