A Netflix true crime documentary that viewers say is one of the most ‘bone chilling’ available is the perfect title to watch after one of the streamer’s recent hits.
Many fans of the streamer have been absorbed with new film release Maternal Instinct. That title tells the shockingly true story of a pregnancy secret that turned even darker than anyone could imagine.
At the time of writing it is the most watched film among UK subscribers. Fans have been so quick to breeze through the feature length doc that they have been on the lookout for what to watch next.
One of these people took to the Netflix subreddit for some advice. In their post, they simply stated: “Looking for a true crime documentary even more insane than Maternal Instinct about Taylor Parker.”

There were soon inundated with recommendations but one of the most popular answers was The Girl in the Picture. This film was originally released on Netflix back in 2022. With the sheer amount of true crime films and series that are produced and released by the company, some may have missed it at the time.
It starts following the mysterious death of a young mother found by the side of the road. Soon after that her son is kidnapped and it blows open a decades-long puzzle about the woman’s true identity and a murderous fugitive in the middle of it all.
Those suggesting Maternal Instinct fans to watch it next claimed it is ‘crazy’ and admitted that they “haven’t stopped thinking about it.” They added it has unbelievable twists and will blow your mind.
Critics agree as well, with the film earning a rating of 96% on website Rotten Tomatoes. Several other viewers have also shared their thoughts on the film suggesting it is a must watch for all true crime fans.

One shared online: “A messed up story that needed to be told. My palm is still on my forehead and the word disbelief doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface. Long review short, watch this movie You won’t believe this type of animal actually existed.”
