Talk about awkward timing… Prince William and Kate Middleton stepped out for a Sunday church service near Balmoral just days after the bombshell news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing to spend an extended period back in Britain.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were seen arriving at Crathie Kirk on August 23 with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. They joined King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and other members of the Royal Family for the traditional summer service.

Kate appeared relaxed and was photographed smiling as William drove the family to the church.

Yet behind the polished royal appearance, the timing could hardly be more intriguing.

News that Harry and Meghan are reportedly returning to the UK with Archie and Lilibet has instantly revived questions about the strained relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family.

The couple are expected to spend an extended period in Britain, with their children reportedly preparing to attend school in the UK from September. Their return does not currently mean a return to official royal duties, and the Sussexes are expected to remain private, non-working royals.

For William, however, the situation is particularly sensitive.

Relations between the brothers have remained strained, despite signs that Harry’s relationship with King Charles may have improved. Reports suggest there is still significant distance between William and his younger brother.

And with Harry potentially spending much more time in Britain, that distance could become considerably harder to maintain.

What about Rose Hanbury?

The latest royal headlines have also revived online chatter surrounding Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley and a former neighbour of the Wales family in Norfolk.

Rumours about an alleged relationship between Hanbury and William have circulated for years, but they have never been substantiated. There is no credible evidence establishing an affair, and the speculation should not be treated as fact.

Against that backdrop, William’s reported departure from Norfolk for the royal gathering has generated renewed interest — even though there is no evidence connecting his church appearance to the old rumours.

For Kate, the public appearance offered a very different image: calm, composed and seemingly focused on family.

The Balmoral gathering comes at an unusually delicate moment.

The Royal Family’s traditional summer retreat is normally an opportunity to escape the relentless pressure of public life. This year, however, Harry and Meghan’s reported return has placed the family under an intense new spotlight.

King Charles is reportedly open to rebuilding his relationship with Harry, while William’s position appears considerably more complicated.

Whether the brothers can eventually find common ground remains uncertain.

But one thing is clear: with the Sussexes preparing to spend more time in Britain, the royal family may soon have to navigate old tensions much closer to home.

Harry may be coming back — but the question everyone is asking is whether the family will be ready for him.
