Mark Dolan has warned of a financial “Armageddon” for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Appearing on Royally Unfiltered, the TV presenter reflected on the long-term effects of Harry’s failed lawsuit against Associated Newspapers. “The bottom line is that reputationally it’s a disaster. Financially, it’s Armageddon. What is Harry on the hook for? Let’s get down to brass tacks. 10, 15, 20 million dollars is what Harry is facing,” Dolan explained.

“So, if it’s conservatively $10million, let’s be nice, let’s be charitable, then that’s all of the Spare [memoir] money gone in on fell swoop. Has he got the cash? What does Meghan think of this? And where does he go from here? This is an existential crisis for Harry.”

“So I think what’s happened, guys, is that he sued in anger,” Dolan continued. “You should never never sue someone when you’re angry. You have got to have cool heads, calm, rational arguments, and it’s always a risk. Instead, he’s gone in like a bull in a china shop. He didn’t learn his lesson when he sued the Mail on Sunday a couple of years ago and decided to cancel that in January 2024. He had to write a check for $1.5 million then for the Daily Mail.

“No doubt double that for his own lawyers fees and he comes back for more. I mean I think the reverberations of this are going to impact Harry for the rest of his life.”

It was in July, during Harry’s highly-publicised return to the UK, that the duke learned that he’d lost his High Court privacy case against the publishers of The Daily Mail. In response, the prince and his fellow claimant, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, released a joint statement. “We came to Court seeking justice and accountability. But we have received neither,” they said. “It is a complete and obvious whitewash, but sadly not altogether unexpected.”
