A contestant on Wheel of Fortune once pulled off a solve so unexpected that even longtime host Pat Sajak appeared caught off guard — and now, the remarkable moment is going viral all over again.
The clip, originally recorded in November 2010, recently resurfaced on the game show’s official Instagram account. The puzzle had barely been revealed, with viewers able to see only one letter — an “l” — along with an apostrophe.
Yet Caitlin Burke was ready to take a guess.
She Solved the Puzzle With Almost Nothing on the Board

In the resurfaced footage, Burke asks, “Could I try to solve?” despite having virtually no information to work with.
Sajak pauses for a moment, seemingly surprised by her confidence, before responding, “okay.”
Burke then gives her answer: “I’ve got a good feeling about this.”
She was right.
“That’s right,” Sajak tells her before walking toward the contestant.
Burke immediately celebrates her unexpected success, asking, “What’d I win? What’d I win?”
Sajak, still seemingly processing what had just happened, responds, “Well wait a minute, let me get over this first,” before asking, “How did—?”
Burke simply explained her approach.
“I had a good feeling about it,” she said.
The official Wheel of Fortune Instagram account brought the moment back into the spotlight years later, joking in its caption that the solve was “so good people will claim this is AI.”
How Did Caitlin Burke Know the Answer?

Burke later explained the surprising solve in an interview with NPR, shortly after the clip first became a viral sensation in 2010.
She said she was a Wheel of Fortune fan and approached the puzzle by breaking the words into “chunks.”
The apostrophe also gave her an important clue. Based on the punctuation, Burke realized the first word was likely to be either “I’ve” or “I’ll.”
That reasoning ultimately led her to the correct answer: “I’ve got a good feeling about this.”
Her quick thinking paid off in more ways than one. Burke left the episode with more than $50,000 in cash and prizes.
Pat Sajak’s Reaction Became Part of the Moment
What made the clip even more memorable was Sajak’s reaction.
After Burke solved the puzzle almost immediately, the longtime host appeared genuinely surprised and needed a moment before moving on.
At the time of the original episode, Sajak had already spent decades hosting Wheel of Fortune, but Burke’s near-instant solve clearly caught his attention.
The moment has taken on a second life online, with the official show account sharing it again more than 15 years after it originally aired.
Sajak’s 41-Season Run Came to an End in 2024
Sajak, now 79, stepped down from Wheel of Fortune in 2024 after hosting the beloved game show for 41 seasons.
During his final episode that June, he delivered an emotional farewell to viewers and reflected on what the long-running show had meant to him.
“It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade,” Sajak said.
He also described the responsibility he felt to keep the program a welcoming place for families, free from social issues, politics and anything embarrassing — simply “a game.”
After Sajak’s departure, Ryan Seacrest took over as host and continues to lead the iconic game show.
But clips from Sajak’s long tenure continue to resurface, including Burke’s extraordinary 2010 solve — a moment that remains remarkable precisely because she seemingly needed almost no clues to figure it out.
