It’s ruff out there for Ken Jennings‘s pets.  The Jeopardy! host told fans about his two dogs and revealed that one of them is cranky. He also told audience members which one is his wife, Mindy’s, favorite.

Along with two children, Ken and Mindy Jennings share two dogs. He occasionally shares photos of them on his social media pages, but doesn’t share much about them. Now, he told the audience during a Q&A more about them.

“Ken *might* be playing favorites with his dogs,” the Instagram post was captioned.

“I have a mini golden named Dakota that everybody loves, and then kind of a little cranky cavapoo, spaniel poodle-mix, named Chance that my wife loves, so everybody’s happy,” he chuckled. The audience members also laughed.

“The other dog is crankier, but I think just pointing that out just intensifies my wife’s devotion to this awful dog, so we try to treat the dogs equally,” he ended.

“They’re good dogs!” a few fans said.

“Aww, Ken. I love your dogs,” another wrote.

Another follower shared that they had a dog that would bite anyone he didn’t know. “We loved him and gave him a great life, but holy hell, we were relieved when he died (of natural causes),” they wrote.

On June 1, Jennings shared that Dakota turned seven years old the week before. She had a party hat on, as well as a matching bandana, as she looked up at the camera at the host with a sad look on her face. “It was somebody’s 7th birthday last week, but she’s not crazy about the hat,” he captioned the post. It is not clear how old Chance is.

The host tends to share more photos of Dakota on his Instagram and calls the dog “photogenic.” He shares more photos of his dogs than of his family. In March, the host shared a rare picture of both dogs as they lay in their opposite dog beds.

Although Chance may be known for being “cranky,” Jennings called Dakota “not the brightest” in a January post. “Give a dog a fish, and it will neurotically lie at a comforting distance from the fish, but not necessarily play with the fish, for a day. I don’t think I could teach this dog to fish because she’s not the brightest,” he captioned the post.

Fans commented that she was the “goodest” and “cutest.” Some said that that behavior was “typical of a golden.”
