The singer and actress, who made history as the first female winner of Britain’s Got Talent, has had an extraordinary year marked by major career milestones. Her debut album of covers, My Way, reached No.1 on the iTunes chart and led to a sold-out national tour across the UK, culminating in the spectacular Sydnie: Live in London at the Adelphi Theatre, filmed for broadcast on PBS in America.
Christmas also showcased her versatility on stage, starring as Cruella de Vil in 101 Dalmatians at the Hammersmith Apollo, and performing at some of the world’s most prestigious events. Highlights included the Royal Variety Performance, two sold-out headline shows at Sony Hall in New York, and a performance at David Foster’s 75th birthday concert at the Hollywood Bowl alongside Andrea Bocelli, Jennifer Hudson, and Josh Groban.
Looking ahead, Christmas is now back in the studio, recording her debut album of original songs, due for release in spring 2026. In a candid interview with Bizarre magazine, she reflected on the creative process: “I never thought I’d have an album of original songs. I have been writing since I was young and never thought I’d see the light of day. Now, as an adult, I am getting the opportunity to write and work out my style. It’s talking about my life, my adventures, and my experiences.”
Breaking away from the “musical theatre” label that many associate with her, Christmas is eager to explore her own sound and identity as a singer-songwriter. She shared that the first person she plans to play her new songs to is BGT judge Amanda Holden: “All it takes is for me to message her and she replies. I have got a demo of a song I need to send her. I would never go, ‘Plug this for me,’ but I’d ask her opinion on the music.”
Fans can also look forward to a One Night Only-style show in London’s West End, where Christmas will debut some of her new songs. She promises a performance full of energy and glamour, with carefully chosen songs designed to showcase her range and even catch the attention of casting directors for future musical projects. “I love the glitter and feeling that energy,” she said, reflecting on her on-stage transformation from tomboy to sparkling performer.
Her achievements have not gone unnoticed. Christmas was honoured with the Outstanding New ITV Talent award at the Variety Club Showbusiness Awards, celebrating her “bright future as a rising star in entertainment.” Professor Jonathan Shalit OBE, chair of Variety, said: “For 75 years, the Variety Club Showbusiness Awards have embodied the very best of British entertainment. Since The Beatles were honoured in 1964, Variety has continued to celebrate the greatest names in music entertainment.”
With a year full of accomplishments behind her and the anticipation of her debut originals album, Sydnie Christmas is poised to make 2026 her most exciting chapter yet both on stage and in the studio.
