Kelly Ripa’s absence from Live with Kelly and Mark has had viewers asking the same question—and now there’s finally a clearer timeline for her return. After days of speculation and a rotating lineup of guest co-hosts, fans are getting fresh details about when they’ll see Kelly back alongside Mark Consuelos. The update is putting an end to the guessing game while giving longtime viewers a better idea of what to expect from the show’s upcoming episodes.

Kelly Ripa has been absent from Live with Kelly and Mark for a second straight week, leaving viewers wondering when they’ll see the longtime host back alongside husband Mark Consuelos.

The host, 55, has not appeared on the hit syndicated talk show since husband and co-host Consuelos revealed on the Monday, July 27, episode that she had undergone gum graft surgery and would be taking off so she could recover.

At the time, he assured viewers that Ripa was “doing great” but was under strict doctor’s orders not to speak while she healed.

“Yeah, it’s painful,” he said. “[Kelly] famously doesn’t feel pain. When she goes into the dentist, she doesn’t use the novocaine. But this one hurts, so I know it’s bad.”

In Ripa’s absence, Live has welcomed a revolving door of guest co-hosts. Kevin Jonas, Mila Kunis, Pamela Adlon and Scott Foley filled in during her first week away, while this week’s episodes so far have featured appearances from Sarah Chalke (on Monday, Aug. 3) and Jenna Dewan (on Tuesday, Aug. 4).

The show’s longtime DJ and announcer Déjà Vu will sit alongside Consuelos on Wednesday, Aug. 5, before Carrie Coon and Michelle Buteau finish off the week, on Thursday, Aug. 6, and Friday, Aug. 7, respectively.

So when will Ripa be back? Viewers can expect to start seeing her again on Live starting Monday, Aug. 10. However, those episodes are all part of the show’s customary summer hiatus, which sees production of regular daily live broadcasts paused.

From then and through Labor Day, those tuning in will see never-before-aired host chat segments that were taped before the break, paired with encore celebrity interviews from throughout the past season.

Ripa’s official return, therefore, will be on Tuesday, Sept. 8, when the show premieres its 39th season with a week of fresh broadcasts from the show’s New York City studio.

That premiere will also mark Ripa’s first appearance since her surgery, making it the most likely moment for the beloved host to share how she’s been feeling after several weeks away from the desk.

A gum graft is a common periodontal procedure used to treat receding or thinning gums by transferring healthy gum tissue to cover exposed tooth roots. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the surgery can help reduce tooth sensitivity, protect against further gum recession and improve overall oral health.

According to Consuelos, Ripa had been putting the surgery off for five years, joking, “‘I didn’t think I’d still be on the air in five years!’ ”

Consuelos, 55, also shared some of the dentist’s recovery instructions, including sticking to soft foods, avoiding straws and resisting the temptation to inspect the surgical site herself. She’s even found a way to talk a little, he said, “without moving her bottom lip.”

Helping lift her spirits has been the support Ripa has been receiving along the way. “She got a lot of love, messages,” Consuelos said. “People were checking in.”
