BRAZIL legend Romario has called for manager Carlo Ancelotti to be axed after causing the nation “embarrassment” in their World Cup exit to Norway.
The Selecao were dumped out in the Round of 16 after a brilliant Erling Haaland double ensured a shock 2-1 defeat.
It was a dismal display from one of the tournament favourites as Neymar netted a consolation from the penalty spot in stoppage time.
The result has cranked the pressure up on Ancelotti with many fans calling for his sacking.
And former Brazil star Romario, 60, has joined the chorus by telling the Brazilian FA to “rip up his contract”.
He told Liberta Depre: “There’s no way Ancelotti can continue as coach of the Brazilian national team after this fiasco, this embarrassment he caused [vs Norway].

“I’d rip up that contract and tell him to take it to court.”
Romario attended the game as a broadcaster at the MetLife Stadium and was even pictured embracing with Ancelotti before kick-off.
The 1994 World Cup winner was also critical of Real Madrid youngster Endrick, who missed a huge chance with a one-on-one.
Romario added: “I like Endrick and he is going to be a player who will give us a lot of joy, but against Norway he was terrible.
“People say: ‘Ah, he’s young’, but he has to score that f***ing goal. Young, middle-aged, old, I don’t care.”
Ancelotti has a contract that runs until 2030 and he is expected to continue in the role despite anger towards the ex-Real Madrid boss.Brazil’s national team coordinator Rodrigo Caetano said after the Norway defeat: “He is our manager and will be throughout this cycle.
“One of the main reasons we failed in this World Cup was not to have proper, stable guidance long term that would have prepared our national team the way it should for a World Cup and we cannot make the same mistake again.”
Speaking in a press conference after Brazil were dumped out, Ancelotti said: “This defeat marks the first step of this national team’s new cycle.
“For me, it’s a disappointing result and a great sense of sadness, but it also leaves a truly valuable experience: an excellent working group. In fact, I want to thank the lads for the atmosphere they created.
“Things don’t always go our way; not everything is always perfect.
“Today we didn’t deserve to lose, but the opponent must also be considered in the equation – a rival with excellent players who made the difference.
“Now we must manage this great sadness and, from tomorrow, start thinking about the future of a national team that already has an interesting group of young players, strong not-so-young players, and veterans who can continue.”
Ancelotti is one of the greatest managers in the history of the game after winning league titles in all five top European leagues.
