On Wednesday, July 29, the Comedy Central program shared a montage of Ingraham pulling faces while seated behind Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, as he was questioned by the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs that day.
And the montage paired that footage — which showed Ingraham smirking, rolling her eyes, and apparently taking a cell phone photo — with her own commentary about other people’s on-camera behavior:
“The smirking for the camera … the smirk she had on her face … shaking her [laughs] shaking her head …and she just kind of rolled her eyes, mugging for the cameras, and at certain points it almost seems like a competition for the camera … her little charade for the cameras isn’t just an example of conduct that is boorish and rude … arrogant and rude … always performing for the cameras … taking a selfie, like a junior high school girl.”
During Wednesday’s hearing, the Republican-led Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee questioned Fauci on his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, with members of the committee accusing him of lying in earlier testimony about the origins of the virus, according to the Associated Press.

Ingraham was one of the audience members who stood when Sen. Bernie Moreno asked those present to stand if they had faced backlash for their COVID-19 actions or beliefs, per The Hill. The Fox News star previously criticized the use of COVID-19 vaccines, the site added.
As The Daily Beast reported, Ingraham’s own brother criticized her apparent contempt for Fauci. On Thursday, as he reposted an X clip of Sen. Ron Johnson saying on The Ingraham Angle that Fauci “ought to be the most infamous villain in American history,” Curtis wrote, “Umm, if my memory serves me correctly, Laura, weren’t you one of the early birds to receive the Covid vaccine that @Dr_AnthonyFauci helped spearhead?!”
