Kelly Ripa Reveals Why A Luxurious Body Oil Has Been Banned From Her Home

Kelly Ripa has access to plenty of high-end beauty and bodycare products, but one item in her shower has recently become a safety concern.

During the August 17 episode of Live!, the host revealed that she may have to stop using a luxurious body oil she normally applies while her skin is still damp.

Kelly’s slippery shower problem

Ripa explained that she enjoys using the body oil after showering, but admitted there is one obvious downside.

“We have a nice body oil that I like to put on when I’m still, like, damp in the shower. But we have to stop that because…” she began.

Mark Consuelos immediately supplied the reason: “It’s slippery.”

Ripa then joked that she already knew what her obituary would say — that she would slip in the shower and that would be the end of her.

Consuelos agreed with her concern.

The couple continued discussing how easy it is to forget something and step back into the shower, where the oil could make the floor particularly slippery.

“You got to be careful,” Consuelos warned.

Ripa eventually concluded that their “luxurious and delightful body oil” would have to go.

There was, however, some confusion over who was actually using it.

Consuelos said he had only applied the oil around 10 times in his life. Ripa was skeptical, pointing out that they seemed to be going through the product surprisingly quickly.

“I don’t use it. I would tell you if I use it,” Consuelos insisted.

“Somebody’s using it,” Ripa replied.

She then jokingly suggested that their dog Lena could be responsible, describing the pet as being in there “with her little paws.”

Kelly’s unusual shower routine

This is not the first time Ripa and Consuelos have discussed their shower habits on Live!.

Back in April, the couple talked about the wellness trend known as “dark showering,” which involves showering in low light and is promoted as a way to support better sleep.

Consuelos asked Ripa if she had heard of the trend, before she admitted that she tries to shower in complete darkness.

Her reason was less about wellness and more about avoiding her own reflection.

Ripa explained that their glass-door shower allows her to see herself in the mirror, something she described as frightening when she is soaking wet.

Ripa and Consuelos live in a $27 million townhouse on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

The couple bought the property 12 years ago and transformed it into a modern home featuring French and Old Hollywood-inspired touches, with Mommie Dearest among the inspirations.

Ripa has previously described the townhouse as her “favorite place on earth” and told Architectural Digest that, after moving several times, she considers it her forever home.

She has also spoken warmly about how comfortable she has become there, joking that she would have to be carried out of the house “feet first.”
