Ryan Seacrest doesn’t mess around when it comes to his coffee. He issued a warning to his radio cohosts about what would happen if it were taken away from him.
A clip from On Air With Ryan Seacrest was posted to the radio show’s Instagram page. “Take it from @ryanseacrest himself. He needs his coffee,” the July 23 post was captioned.
“Because of the heat, all of the people, the experts say, ‘Don’t drink coffee,” Seacrest told his sidekicks Tanya Rad and Sisanie. “It’s too hot. When it gets to be really hot in the 90s and 100s, to not drink coffee, to stay away from coffee and soda and anything caffeinated.”
“I understand,” he said. “But it’s kind of like, I’m going to pick and choose my battles.”
“Yeah,” Rad agreed.
“This room doesn’t want me not having coffee,” Seacrest warned.
“Nooooo!” both women said.
“What does DJ Khaled say?” the American Idol host asked.
“Anotha one?” Sisanie laughed.
“No. He says, ‘They don’t want me to be DJ Khaled,’” Seacrest replied. “You don’t want me to not have coffee!”
Rad suggested that Seacrest should throw electrolytes into another drink to make up for the dehydration from coffee.
“Caffeine. Blah blah blah. It raises your heart rate and your blood pressure,” the Wheel of Fortune host said. “And it makes you vulnerable to heat exhaustion, and it’s a diuretic.”
“It’s the dehydration aspect of it, that’s more of the concern,” Sisanie said.
“You’re not reading any of the good of it!” Rad said. “It’s beautiful. It’s delicious.”
“It puts me in a good mood for two hours,” Seacrest interjected.
“What does your good friend, Dan Buettner, say about this?” Sisanie asked. Buettner is a writer, cookbook author, longevity researcher, and public speaker who focuses on health and living longer.
“I didn’t ask him,” Seacrest said. “But, you know what’s interesting? I don’t care about what anyone says about coffee because I am going to have it no matter what.”
“It’s basically in your bed at this point,” Sisanie said.
All of the comments on the thread agreed with him. However, some of them suggested drinking his coffee iced in the heat.
What do you think about the experts’ advice? Will you give up coffee in the heat? Let us know in the comments.
