The Second World War film is told from the perspective of a machine gun company of the Finnish Army.

The story takes place during the Continuation War between Finland and the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1944.

It was the most expensive Finnish motion picture at the time of its release, with a budget of €7 million (£6.1million).

The film in question is The Unknown Soldier, otherwise known by its Finnish name – Tuntematon sotilas. The film has been hailed a must-watch

His casting came as a surprise to viewers, as the actor was mostly known for playing villains.

Viewers took to IMDb reviews to share their thoughts on the film, with OzMovieWatcher giving it 10 stars.

They said: “This is an impressive ‘you must watch it’ movie. Absolutely Brilliant. This is a movie for WW2 history buffs as it provides authenticity and accuracy.

“This WW2 movie is far better than anything I have seen coming out of Hollywood with their multi-million dollar budgets.

“The movie is raw and gutsy and holds no barriers in showing the realities of war. Friendships and relationships destroyed in war… the frustrations, the agony, the carnage and the futility are all very accurately dramatised.”

Zaxxxppe hailed it “a must-watch for fans of history and World War Two”, adding: “An overview of a lesser-known theatre of war, done without the glorification of war itself.

“You can really see why it is Finland’s most expensive movie, the combat scenes are amazing, the landscapes, uniforms and weapons authentic.

“Very different from Hollywood-styled movies and really makes you think about the war as a whole, not only combat and fighting, but the way it affects individuals and the community. Again a must-watch!”
