King Charles has been pictured for the first time since Prince Harry returned to Britain, with the monarch seen taking a quiet drive through Braemar near Balmoral.
The 77-year-old King was photographed behind the wheel of a Range Rover during his summer stay at the Scottish estate, where he has been spending time with Queen Camilla and members of the wider Royal Family.
The appearance comes at a particularly significant moment. Harry and Meghan Markle have returned to Britain with their children after several years living in the United States, immediately putting the Sussexes’ relationship with the rest of the Royal Family back under intense scrutiny.
Harry and Meghan arrived in the UK with Archie and Lilibet after flying from Los Angeles on a private jet. Their return follows years of tension between Harry and his family, particularly his relationship with his father and older brother, Prince William.
Charles had reportedly been informed about Harry and Meghan’s plans several days before the public announcement. The timing has therefore attracted considerable attention, particularly as the King and much of his family remain together at Balmoral.
