Police have launched an urgent appeal after a woman was allegedly raped in a popular UK country park in broad daylight. West Midlands Police are now appealing for further information in relation to the incident, which allegedly took place at Sandwell Valley Country Park.

Police said the woman was found injured in the Priory Woods area of the park on June 29 at around 10.15am. Following enquiries, officers believe the woman was raped. She was taken to hospital for assessment and has since been discharged, and is now being supported by specially trained officers. The force is appealing to anyone who was in the area from around 8am until 11am and may have information about what happened.

Detective Inspector Phil Griffiths said, Public Projection Unit, said: “In the last three weeks, officers have been reviewing CCTV footage from around Sandwell Valley Country Park, examining forensic evidence, and speaking to anyone who may have vital information about what happened.

“Neighbourhood officers have been patrolling the area since the incident and specialist officers will be revisiting the park today to speak to anyone who may have information.

“We know the park would have been busy on a Monday morning with people enjoying the sunshine. We need to hear from you if you saw anything that was suspicious.”

Anyone who has any information is asked to call 101 quoting 20/304639/26.
