True crime fans have been left unimpressed after Netflix announced that another hit show would be ending imminently.
Streaming giant Netflix has confirmed that Conversations with a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes will be the final instalment of the intriguing true crime show.
The news has left many true crime aficionados displeased after Netflix dropped a trailer for the forthcoming series, which will be available to stream globally from August 12 and will effectively mark the end of the programme.
The new documentary comes as Hulu has released My Grandfather Charles Manson.
A brief summary of Conversations with a Killer: The Charles Manson Tapes reads: “Tracing Charles Manson’s rise as a cult leader, the 1969 murders, and his trial, using unreleased prison recordings, interviews, and archival footage.”

In the trailer, a caption appears on the screen confirming the show will be ending: “The final chapter of the Conversations with a Killer.”
Much like the previous instalments, audiences can listen to Charles Manson speak out in his own words about his crimes, which rocked the world.
Many people took to the comments section under the trailer on YouTube to share their reactions as one person posted: “this conversations with a killer show series is one of the best things netflix has ever done [sic].”

A second wanted the focus to shift to another subject: “It’s honestly a shame that Netflix still hasn’t made a proper documentary series about Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer, or Samuel Little. These are two of the most prolific serial killers in American history, yet Netflix has given us detailed series about so many others.|
A third person posted: “How many Charles Manson documentaries do we need good lord.”
However, someone else shared their elation: “Charles Manson is by far the most fascinating true crime case in US history. Can’t get enough of it.”
The end of Conversations with a Killer has also left many demanding the return of another true crime favourite that left screens too soon.
Fans of true crime drama Mindhunter were quick to demand a third season of the cancelled David Fincher vehicle in the comments, which retains a cult-like devotion from audiences.
One person wrote: “I mean, you could have put that in a mindhunter season 3 type of a banger but hey, what do I know?”
A second fan said: “exactly man, would have loved more of charlie manson and the BTK killer, like many others I was also looking forward to a season 3 but I guess netflix had other plans. However I think if the show gets renewed today and a potential season 3 is announced, the audience response would be extraoridnary [sic].”
A third commented: “Season 3 of mindhunter would be awesome!!! They need to bring that show back”, as a fourth person said: “I absolutely agree! Mindhunter season 3 NEEDS to happen!!!”
Mindhunter followed the FBI as it founded the now famous Behavioral Science Unit and started developing its criminal profiling system by interviewing prolific serial killers such as Ed Kemper, Richard Speck and Jerry Brudos.
There were also appearances from Charles Manson and David Berkowitz in the second season, but sadly the show was cancelled after this.
