Miranda Lambert Had One More Surprise up Her Sleeve… And The Moment Chris Stapleton Walked Out, Nashville ERUPTED

Miranda Lambert Brings Chris Stapleton to the Stage for a Surprise Duet at Nashville’s The Truth

Miranda Lambert had already given Nashville plenty to celebrate with the opening of The Truth and the release of her new album Crisco. Then she made opening night even more memorable by bringing Chris Stapleton onto the stage for a surprise performance of their Grammy-nominated duet, “A Song To Sing.”

Lambert’s one-night-only concert took place October 1 at The Truth, Nashville’s new 4,400-capacity venue in the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood. The sold-out show marked the venue’s opening night and was built around Lambert’s latest chapter, with songs from Crisco mixed with some of the biggest hits from her catalog.

A New Album and a New Nashville Stage

The performance arrived just one day before Crisco officially hit streaming services and stores on October 2, 2026.

The album is Lambert’s latest studio project under MCA and takes her familiar country sound in a more playful direction, incorporating disco and funk influences along the way. The 12-track collection moves through a range of themes and styles while retaining the storytelling and country roots that have defined Lambert’s career.

Crisco includes two notable collaborations. Lambert joins forces with Ella Langley on “Snakeskin Boots,” while Chris Stapleton appears on “A Song To Sing.”

The Stapleton collaboration has a particularly fitting place on the album. Its blend of country vocals and a retro-inspired groove reflects the broader musical direction Lambert explores throughout Crisco.

“A Song To Sing” Became a Special Collaboration

Lambert and Stapleton released “A Song To Sing” in July 2025, with the single arriving July 11 and impacting country radio on July 14.

Written by Lambert, Stapleton, Jesse Frasure and Jenee Fleenor, the song marked the pair’s first true recorded duet collaboration. Its classic-country duet influence is paired with a distinctly retro sound, giving the track a style that fits naturally alongside the more disco-leaning elements of Crisco.

The song went on to earn nominations for Best Country Song and Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Lambert and Stapleton also performed “A Song To Sing” together at the 2025 CMA Awards. Their first live performance of the song added another chapter to a collaboration that would eventually become one of the highlights of Lambert’s new album.

The song centers on music as a source of connection, with its lyrics portraying a relationship through the language of melodies, harmonies and shared memories. Lambert and Stapleton’s voices give the recording a conversational quality, with their harmonies carrying much of its emotional weight.

Chris Stapleton Walks Onto the Stage

Lambert began her show at The Truth with “Kerosene,” the first single of her career, before moving through familiar hits and material from Crisco.

Among the new songs were “Crisco,” “Snakeskin Boots,” which Lambert performed on her own, and “A Song To Sing.”

Then came the night’s biggest surprise.

As Lambert introduced the Grammy-nominated collaboration, she welcomed Chris Stapleton to the stage. The crowd immediately erupted as Stapleton appeared, turning the performance into an unexpected reunion for two of country music’s most recognizable voices.

The two artists launched into “A Song To Sing” together, giving the sold-out audience a live version of the song that had already connected with listeners since its 2025 release.

The Surprise Added to an Already Significant Night

The Stapleton appearance came at a fitting moment for Lambert. The Truth officially opened October 1 with her sold-out one-night-only concert, making her the first artist to headline the new Nashville venue. The space, located at 440 Chestnut Street, has a capacity of 4,400 and is part of Live Nation and AJ Capital’s new addition to Nashville’s live music scene.

The venue’s opening night also gave Lambert a setting to showcase Crisco just hours before its official release.

For fans in the room, however, the unexpected appearance by Stapleton became one of the evening’s defining moments. Lambert and Stapleton each brought their distinctive vocal styles to the performance, while their harmonies gave the duet the same sense of intimacy heard on the studio recording.

The moment also highlighted why “A Song To Sing” became such a natural fit for Crisco. The song combines Lambert’s country sensibility with Stapleton’s unmistakable voice, while its nostalgic musical approach complements the album’s broader mix of country, disco and funk influences.

Fans Will Get Another Chance to Experience the Show

The performance at The Truth will not remain exclusive to the people who were inside the venue that night.

Amazon Music is set to present Lambert’s concert as a Songline Live episode, with the performance premiering October 7 at 9 p.m. ET on Amazon Music, Prime Video and Twitch. The special was recorded during Lambert’s October 1 show and features selected songs from Crisco alongside material from her catalog, backed by a 12-piece string section.

That gives fans who missed the sold-out opening-night concert another opportunity to see the performance and, most importantly, the surprise moment when Stapleton joined Lambert for “A Song To Sing.”

With Crisco now officially released and The Truth beginning its first season of shows, Lambert’s opening-night performance brought together two significant moments in Nashville music: the launch of a new venue and the arrival of a new chapter in Lambert’s career.

And for the audience inside The Truth, the unexpected appearance of Chris Stapleton provided an especially memorable way to mark both.
