With the new series hitting our screens this autumn, here’s everything you need to know about The Final Problem, including the plot, cast and how to watch it.
What is The Final Problem about?
Based on Arturo Pérez-Reverte’s bestselling novel of the same name (El Problema Final in Spanish), the four-part Spanish series transports us to a secluded island of Mallorca in the spring of 1959. But that’s not all, a Brit called Elisa Mander is found dead – and one of the guests is guilty.
There’s only one man in the group who has the accolades (well, kind of) to figure it out. Basil (José Coronado), a retired actor who used to play Sherlock Holmes, finds himself reprising his role as lead investigator in this real-life murder mystery. And, as every Sherlock needs a Watson, introducing Foxá (Martiño Rivas) – an aspiring thriller writer. Together, the duo leaves no stone unturned in the luxurious hotel, to the annoyance of the manager, Mrs Ausländer (Maribel Verdú).
