According to Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, who spoke with TMZ, Parton will eventually be interred alongside Dean in Nashville, Tennessee. Dean died in March 2025 and was laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
A 2025 video from vlogger Jordan the Lion gave fans a glimpse of the couple’s crypt, offering a rare look at the place connected to their private life and family history.
One of its most personal details is the engraving on the crypt’s faceplate. It depicts Parton’s childhood home in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains, a nod to the modest beginnings that shaped her life long before she became a country music icon.
Parton grew up there with her parents and 11 siblings before leaving for Nashville at age 18 to pursue a career in music and entertainment.
At the center of the faceplate are two intertwined wedding rings, accompanied by the date the couple married: May 30, 1966.
The design ties together two defining parts of Parton’s life: the rural Tennessee upbringing that shaped her and the marriage that remained a constant throughout her decades in the public eye.
A marriage largely kept away from the spotlight
Parton and Dean were famously protective of their privacy. While Parton spent much of her life in front of cameras and audiences, Dean largely avoided public attention and remained out of the spotlight throughout her career.
Following his death, Parton spoke about the depth of their relationship in an interview with PEOPLE Magazine.
“Ours is a great old love story,” she said. “Most people don’t stay that close that long. That’s a loss. Nobody can ever know that unless you’ve experienced it yourself. He will always be in my heart and in my memories.”
Just days after Dean’s death, Parton also released “If You Hadn’t Been There,” a tribute to her husband. Dean was featured in the song’s cover art, giving the release an especially personal connection to the man who had shared so much of her life.
Parton’s final wishes
Parton’s own wishes for her final arrangements were revealed in a video featuring Seaver that was released on the day of her death.
According to Seaver, Parton wanted her final resting place to reflect the simple, hardworking roots she shared with her father. He described her as a farmer in her own way, saying her father farmed the soil while she farmed songs and happiness.
Seaver also shared Parton’s request for a particularly comfortable final resting place.
“Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because after a life wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest,” he said.
The image stands in striking contrast to the glamorous persona audiences knew so well, returning instead to the comfort and simplicity that Parton associated with home.
A private farewell
According to an official statement from Parton’s family shared on Instagram, funeral arrangements will remain private.
“At Dolly’s request, a small, private service will be held for immediate family,” the statement said. Fans and friends around the world were encouraged to honor Parton on social media by tagging @DollyParton or leaving a message through her official website.
The family also asked that, instead of sending flowers, donations be made to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Dolly Parton died on August 25, 2026, at the age of 80.
