The six-part series follows the police investigation after the body of a young man is found in a strange fashion in the Scottish wilderness.
The weather may be glorious outside, but that won’t stop us settling down in the evening to watch an eerie crime drama about a serial killer who uses twisted techniques in the Scottish wilderness.

We’re talking, of course, about The Dark, ITV’s latest six-part thriller that aired last night (12 July) and follows the police pursuit of a masked killer after the body of a young man is found on the glens.
Outlander’s Laura Donnelly stars as lead detective Monica Kennedy, who fears that the murder is just the beginning of something much larger and more terrifying that will strike at the heart of the rural community. As paranoia rises, suspicions and secrets are forced into the light, and the locals start to realise that there is a serial killer hidden among them. Monica will have to use all her skills to find the killer, but when her own history comes into play, she begins to lose faith in her judgment, putting herself and her family in a dangerous situation.

Adapted from GR Halliday’s debut novel, From The Shadows, the show has been billed as a “tense cat and mouse chase”, ideal for fans of gritty dramas like The Fall or The Crow Girl.
But if you missed the first episode, don’t worry. There’s still time to catch up before The Dark continues tonight (13 July) at 9pm on ITV.
